The Associate Donor Relations Officer is part of a team that maintains proactive dialogue with governmental donors or UN agencies and organizations, as well as with the regional and local donors aiming at building relationships, raise awareness and mobilize political and financial support for UNHCR's work and priorities.
The incumbent's primary role is pursuing opportunities for donor engagement, strengthening partnerships, sustaining support and fundraising opportunities. Due to the specific nature of these responsibilities, Donor Relations Officer posts are based only in Geneva Headquarters, major donor capitals or Regional Bureaux, s/he with also provide support to counterparts in Field Operations.
S/he is supervised by the Senior Donor Relations Officer and receives guidance from Public Partnerships and Financing Service (PPFS) Chief of Sections and from the Head of Service. S/he may receive indirect guidance from other units within PPFS, Divisions in Headquarters or Regional Bureaux.

Experience in external engagement with donors, UN agencies, partners, governments. Professional work experience in field operations. Knowledge of UNHCR's operational arrangements, its relief programmes, the funding needs and priorities.
UNHCR fund- raising and programme management experience. Good research, policy and report writing skills. Experience in managing donor relations. Understanding of the workings of major donor perspectives, requirements and standards.

Based in the Regional Bureau for Eastern and Southern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, under the direct supervision of the Senior Donor Relations Officer, the Associate Donor Relations Officer has a key role in supporting donor engagement efforts and securing additional Government, and pooled funding. S/he maintains a close dialogue with government and other partners, identifies additional funding opportunities, leads the preparations of project proposals and reports, and ensures that donor requirements are met.
The successful candidate should have solid experience in external engagement and donor relations. S/he should possess excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and experience in dealing with partners diplomatically. A demonstrated capacity to work closely with diverse teams and to work collaboratively would also be essential. Familiarity with fundraising and the programmatic requirements of some of UNHCR’s donors is an asset. The incumbent is expected to be a forward-thinker and solutions-oriented.

d) Certificate of English proficiency test: Applicants should score a minimum of (i) TOEFL iBT 100 or (ii) TEPS 430 or (iii) IELTS 7 or
(iv) TOEIC 900
e) Not older than 32 years of age as of 31st December, 2026 (born after 1st January, 1994). The maximum age limit for those who served in the military will be extended accordingly: one year will be extended for those who served for less than one year; two years will be extended for those who served for more than one year and less than two years; three years will be extended for those who served for two years or more.
f) Male applicants shall have completed the Korean military service or be exempted from it. Those who will be discharged from military service in the year of the application may also apply.
g) Applicants can apply for a maximum of two JPO positions sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea
