We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Medical Oncology colleague to join our thriving urology and breast cancer practices. The post-holder will provide systemic oncological treatments for patients diagnosed with:
Urological cancers (Portsmouth)
Breast cancers (Isle of Wight)
The successful candidate will join a team of three medical oncologists, two clinical oncologists and a consultant radiographer covering the Portsmouth urology practice. The practice is supported by specialist registrars, prescribers and clinical nurse specialists. The department has for many years been one of the highest recruiters to the STAMPEDE trial and is now recruiting to STAMPEDE2.
The successful candidate will also take referrals for systemic therapy for breast cancer via the Isle of Wight breast MDT, working alongside a Consultant Radiographer. This practice is supported by specialist registrars, a prescriber and clinical nurse specialists.
Approximate new referrals would be 100-150 per year for each tumour site.
This is a 10 PA post, although candidates wishing to work fewer PAs are most welcome to discuss their requirements with the department. A 10 PA post is based on 8 PA DCC and 2 PA SPA.
MRCP/FRCP or equivalent
Demonstrable skills and experience of expertise in the areas of special interest relevant to the Job Plan
Understanding of clinical risk management
Published research in peer reviewed journal
Formal management training/qualification
Teaching of junior doctors
Formal teaching/Educational experience and qualifications
