Job Description

About this opportunity

We’re looking for a hands‑on, people‑focused Regional HSE Manager to support our New Zealand sites.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being out on site, building strong relationships, and helping operational teams lift their safety capability.

As Regional HSE Manager, you’ll lead the on‑site implementation of our Group HSE strategy across NZ and help embed it with our teams, partner closely with the NZ Senior Leadership Team, and drive measurable improvements in compliance, capability and performance. You’ll also play a key role on the One Pact HSE Council, contributing insights to Group‑wide initiatives through the One Pact HSE Council.

Your key responsibilities will be to

Support the implementation of the Group HSE strategy, programs and management system across NZ—aligning activities with business goals and values.

Provide practical HSE advice and support to site managers, SLT members and HSE Advisors to build capability and improve safety performance.

Support Group governance activities by helping interpret requirements, embedding systems at site level, and contributing insights to One Pact HSE Council initiatives.

Drive a strong, positive safety culture through coaching, engagement and a servant‑leadership approach across all NZ sites.

Carry out and support hazard identification, risk assessments and site inspections, with a focus on high‑risk areas such as machinery safety, LOTO, traffic management, chemical handling and working at heights.

Help maintain compliance by keeping up‑to‑date with NZ H&S legislation and supporting assurance activities such as audits, machine safety reviews and follow‑up actions.

Coordinate and support incident management, including notifiable events and high‑risk incidents, ensuring timely reporting, investigation support and corrective actions.

Assist with the delivery of HSE training and engagement activities, including HSE representative development and capability‑building sessions.

Maintain and support regional HSE procedures, ensuring they align with Group standards and are easy for site teams to apply.

Provide on‑site support for complex HSE issues, helping site leaders and advisors identify solutions and strengthen critical risk management.

Prepare and present HSE performance insights for NZ SLT and Divisional leadership, ensuring clear, practical information that supports decision‑making.

Your skills and experience

  • Proven senior HSE leadership experience within manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Postgraduate qualifications in HSE or Risk Management (advantageous)
  • Professional membership with a recognised industry body (e.g., NZISM) - preferred
  • Strong knowledge of relevant WHS and environmental legislation
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and experience of driving change in complex environments
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Strong capability in incident investigation, risk assessment and data analysis
  • Experience working with HSE management systems, such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
  • Proven ability to influence culture positively and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Additional Information

This is a site‑based role, and regular on‑site presence is essential.

Travel to Auckland/Hamilton sites every few months and other NZ sites occur approximately every 6 months, depending on operational needs.

The role may work from any Auckland site but will be based at East Tamaki for the first few months to support the SLT and onboarding.
