The Design Head – Electrical/Mechanical will act as the Owner's technical authority for all electrical engineering aspects of a 200 MW Combined Cycle Gas Power Plant (CCPP). The role is responsible for review, validation, and approval of electrical design and engineering documents prepared by the EPC Contractor and Owner's Engineer (OE), ensuring compliance with project requirements, grid codes, statutory regulations, and best industry practices.
Electrical Design Review & Governance
Lead Owner-side review and approval of all electrical design deliverables from EPC and OE.
Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, operability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost objectives.
Act as the single-point technical authority for electrical systems across the project.
Plant Electrical Systems (Generation & BOP)
o GT & ST generators and generator transformers
o Unit and station auxiliary transformers
o MV & LV distribution systems
o MCCs, VFDs, UPS, DC systems, emergency DGs
o Lighting, earthing, lightning protection, cable systems
Validate load lists, power balance, short-circuit levels, protection coordination, grounding and arc-flash studies.
Switchyard, Grid Interconnection & Transmission
Review and approve 225 kV switchyard and power evacuation system designs, including SLDs, layouts, protection, metering, and SAS/SCADA interfaces.
Review electrical design of 225 kV transmission line, including insulation coordination, protection schemes, and grid interface requirements.
Coordinate with grid utility and regulatory authorities for technical approvals and compliance.
Protection, Control & Automation
Review protection philosophy, relay schemes, interlocks, and coordination studies.
Ensure seamless integration between plant DCS, switchyard automation system (SAS), and grid systems.Interface & Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate technical interfaces between EPC, OE, OEMs, grid utility, and internal owner teams.
Review and resolve technical deviations, design changes, and non-conformities.
Construction & Commissioning Support
Provide technical support during construction, testing, energization, and grid synchronization.
Review and approve as-built drawings and final electrical documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred)
Deep knowledge of CCPP electrical systems and grid interconnection
Strong understanding of IEC / IEEE / IS / ANSI standards and grid codes
Ability to critically review EPC/OE designs and drive technical optimization
Excellent coordination, leadership, and decision-making skills
