As a Modern Workplace Design Engineer, you play an important role in shaping Gilbert + Tobin’s digital workplace environment. You support the delivery of the firm’s End User Computing (EUC) strategy, with a focus on secure, scalable, and automated endpoint solutions across our Microsoft Windows and cloud-based workplace platforms.
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract, with the view to transition to a permanent position based on business needs.
You contribute to workplace engineering initiatives across cross-functional teams, working closely with Technology Operations, Infrastructure, Security teams, and external vendors. You ensure endpoint platforms and deployment processes align with enterprise architecture, security, and governance standards while supporting the continued evolution of the firm’s modern Windows workplace environment.
About you
You are an experienced workplace engineer who approaches problems with curiosity and communicates clearly. You design and maintain modern Windows environments that are secure, automated, and user-friendly.
Design, build and maintain secure Windows environments for enterprise endpoints and Azure Virtual Desktop environments
Deliver modern endpoint deployment and management capabilities using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot
Package and deploy core applications, policies and scripts for enterprise endpoints
Incorporate hardware driver and BIOS updates into routine patching and lifecycle management
Implement automation using Microsoft-based tooling and PowerShell scripting
Collaborate with security teams to maintain compliance across the Windows fleet and organisational risk frameworks
Provide Level 3 escalation support for device management and endpoint-related incidents
Work with Technology Operations, Infrastructure and Security teams on workplace platform design and deployment
Maintain documentation, configuration baselines and operational standards
Participate in change management and release planning activities
Key skills and attributes
Strong experience managing modern Windows endpoint environments within enterprise organisations
Deep knowledge of Microsoft endpoint technologies including Intune, Windows 11, Autopilot and Entra ID
Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell and modern application deployment methods such as WinGet and Win32 packaging
Understanding of endpoint security, configuration management and compliance controls
Ability to work collaboratively with infrastructure, security and operations teams
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to stakeholders
Familiarity with ITIL service management practices and enterprise ITSM platforms such as Ivanti
Qualifications and experience
Five or more years’ experience in workplace engineering, endpoint management or SOE design roles
Demonstrated experience delivering modern endpoint management using Microsoft technologies
Relevant Microsoft certifications and ITIL Foundation certification are desirable
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
