Automotive Buyer - Wholesale Relationship Specialist

Dutton Automotive, Australia’s leading retailer and wholesaler of pre-owned vehicles, is seeking an experienced Automotive Buyer to join our dynamic team. With over 300 staff across 20 dealerships nationally and strong backing from Sojitz Corporation, we are continuing to grow our presence in the prestige, luxury, and commercial automotive market.

We are looking for a motivated and highly connected Automotive Buyer who can leverage their existing wholesale relationships and market knowledge to identify, negotiate, and secure quality stock for our dealerships. This role will see you procure vehicles from wholesale channels, trade partners, and dealer networks to ensure our sites are stocked with high-quality and profitable vehicles. This is a fast-paced, commercially focused role where your ability to source and purchase vehicles efficiently and profitably will directly contribute to our business success.

Job Description

• Source, appraise, and purchase vehicles through wholesale networks, auctions, and dealer contacts
• Build, maintain, and grow relationships with wholesalers, dealers, and trade partners
• Negotiate pricing and secure profitable purchases in line with market demand
• Accurately appraise and evaluate vehicles to ensure quality and value
• Work closely with sales, operations, and logistics teams to ensure smooth vehicle acquisition and delivery
• Stay across market trends, pricing shifts, and competitive activity

Qualifications

To be successful, you will bring

• Proven experience as an Automotive Buyer with a strong track record in wholesale vehicle sourcing
• Established network and relationships across wholesale, dealer, and trade channels
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with a results-driven mindset
• In-depth knowledge of the used car market, including prestige, exotic, and commercial vehicles
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a high-performing team
• A sharp eye for detail and strong commercial acumen
