The school is seeking an experienced IB Diploma Programme English A teacher to guide students through advanced literary analysis, critical thinking, and academic writing. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons that develop deep conceptual understanding while preparing learners for both internal and external assessments. For the right candidate, there is the opportunity to take on additional leadership responsibility as Head of Department, supporting curriculum development and leading the English team.
This role requires a reflective, student-centred educator who can inspire confidence, intellectual curiosity, and strong communication skills in a rigorous pre-university programme.

Teach IB DP English A Language and Literature or English A Literature, delivering structured lessons that strengthen conceptual understanding and advanced analytical skills
Design DP units aligned with IB course guides and assessment criteria, using diverse literary and non-literary texts from a range of cultures, genres, and time periods
Prepare students for the DP Internal Assessment by guiding oral analysis practice and providing accurate, criteria-based feedback
Support students with DP External Assessments through explicit instruction in academic writing, comparative analysis, and exam-style responses
Develop students' ability to apply literary concepts, analyse authorial choices, and engage in critical interpretation
Differentiate learning to support high achievers, multilingual learners, and those requiring additional support
Track student progress carefully and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families
Lead discussions and collaborative analysis sessions that promote sophisticated thinking and academic dialogue
Integrate Theory of Knowledge concepts where appropriate
Collaborate with DP colleagues on planning, moderation, and programme development
Contribute to the development of curriculum materials and shared departmental resources
Participate actively in DP meetings, standardisation, and professional dialogue
Support student wellbeing through strong pastoral care and safeguarding practice
