Ready to make massive impact with microscopic magic?
Would you like to work on the next generation of metrology instruments for the semiconductor industry? Are you a Product System Engineer who can: manage the system-level definition, including ownership and evolution of the Multiprobe SPDS / system-level design specification, translating customer/market needs into measurable system requirements, and ensuring subsystem work (optics, mechanics, electronics, control/FPGA, software, DA) coheres into a validated system plan?
If this sounds like you, read on....
£50,960 to £80,000 (depending on experience)
25 days annual leave, death in service and private health care benefits, personal pension contributions of 4% with salary sacrifice and a generous EMI Share scheme
Based in Abingdon, Oxford, UK, we are a high calibre team of 100 plus people and we are growing fast. We are backed by global financial and industry investors including Applied Ventures, the strategic venture arm of the industry leading equipment company.
The role will work closely with an external development partner, expert in complex instrumentation design while maintaining internal alignment across engineering teams.
While it is mainly focused on the next generation of instrument, the role will also include system engineering work related to the current generation, especially where there is overlap in terms of performance budgets and modelling.
Keeping the Multiprobe SPDS moving (requirements, open issues, change control), align system-function budgets and Product breakdown specifications with the system function architects using evidence-driven decision making, and translate programme goals into crisp milestones, risks, and test requirements.
You’ll also be the technical “glue” between Infinitesima and our external design partner joining architecture/design discussions, ensuring knowledge transfer (including systems-engineer training), and turning reviews into clear actions for the wider engineering teams.
Working with complex instrumentation for technology or science, i.e. multi-disciplinary, high-precision/accuracy, large-scale and/or collaborative.
Atomic force microscopy (essential)
Scanning electron microscopy (desirable)
Focused Ion Beam (desirable)
Profilers (desirable)
Familiarity with some of the following disciplines: mechanics, electronics, optics, software, control systems, motion systems or similar
Instrument testing and validation
Proficiency in data analysis tools, such as Python, Matlab, Excel, etc…
Either a MSc/MEng in Physics, Engineering or similar, or a clear equivalent path through engineering apprenticeship and design/development positions.
