Software Development Engr II, Minimal Access Security Team (MAST)

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to design and build large-scale, next-generation Access Management systems. You will contribute to key engineering decisions that shape the Amazon developer experience, working across the full software development lifecycle — design, implementation, documentation, deployment, and operations — spanning multiple products and reaching the broader Amazon development community.

You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and leadership to deliver high-impact, extensible security capabilities that serve diverse businesses across the enterprise. This role includes participation in an on-call rotation. We prioritize fault-tolerant systems to keep disruptions minimal, and when pages occur, we work as a team to resolve the root cause so it doesn't recur.

About the team

At Amazon Security, we're building the next generation of Foundational Access Management capabilities to protect Amazon's digital and physical resources at scale. We are responsible for safeguarding customer and corporate data while staying deeply connected to all parts of Amazon's business and its massive worldwide service-oriented architecture. Our team is collaborative, fast-moving, and focused on empowering every team member to grow and achieve their next career goal.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
