Focus Interpreting is seeking a dedicated English to ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter to provide interpretation services for students in the Inland Empire. This position requires a commitment to facilitate clear communication between hearing and deaf or hard-of-hearing students in educational settings, ensuring that all students have equal access to learning opportunities year-round.
Provide accurate and timely interpretation of spoken English into ASL during classroom instruction, discussions, and other school-related activities.
Adapt interpreting style to match instructional content and the individual needs of students.
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
Collaborate with educators, students, and parents to create an inclusive learning environment.
Stay current with ASL interpretation techniques and best practices, continuously improving skills through professional development.
Fluency in both English and ASL with excellent expressive and receptive skills.
Valid certification from a recognized interpreting organization (e.g., RID, NAD) is preferred.
Experience working with students in educational settings is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals.
Knowledge of educational policies related to students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing is a plus.
