The IRC’s violence prevention and response (VPR) programs have provided support to at risk and vulnerable Syrian and Lebanese communities through the delivery of critical case management, psychosocial support, community-based protection and prevention activities, and legal assistance. With years of protection monitoring programming, the IRC is a trusted resource for up-to-date information and analysis of key protection risks and trends amidst an evolving protection environment. The IRC’s protection teams are relied on for their wealth of technical expertise to deliver specialized GBV, CP and Protection response and prevention capacity building for NGOs, UN agencies, and Lebanese government staff.

Job Overview/Summary

The Protection Case Worker (GBV) provides direct support and case management to vulnerable individuals, including women and girls. The role is part of the protection team in various locations in Bekaa Governorate, including:

Case management services located in community centers or community-based safe spaces.

Emotional support groups in safe spaces and community centers.

Psychosocial activities tailored for diverse age groups and needs in community-based safe spaces.

Major Responsibilities

Provide direct support and care to vulnerable women and adolescent girls through community-based activities.

Deliver survivor-centered case management services, including

Basic counseling and psychosocial support

Assessment of needs and available resources

Developing safety and action plans

Implementing plans with appropriate follow-up and referrals

Case closure upon completion of support

Provision of Emergency Cash Assistance (ECA) when applicable and based on proper assessment

Facilitate age-appropriate and specialized support for adolescent girls, ensuring survivor-centered decision-making and adherence to “Do No Harm” principles.

Organize, facilitate, and monitor psychosocial activities tailored to women and adolescent girls.

Mobilize and register participants for structured psychosocial activities.

Facilitate support groups and structured group sessions using available guidance.

Create support group plans and conduct mid-point and final evaluations for monitoring and reporting.

Ensure inclusivity and accessibility of all activities for diverse groups of women and adolescent girls.

Monitoring & Reporting

Support the maintenance of the IRC’s case management system and relevant Information Management Systems (GBVIMS).

Complete the case management quality assessment tool on a monthly basis. Support tracking of mobile activities’ beneficiaries using agreed M&E tools.

Participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality case management, and reporting requirements.

Key Working Relationships

Reports to: Protection Senior Case Management Officer

Works with: Caseworkers, Support Manager, Protection Monitors, IP Senior Officer

Job Requirements

At least six months of counseling experience with issues relating to violence against women and girls, child protection, gender and development, or social change.

Clear understanding of gender inequality, child protection principles, and broader protection concerns.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times.

Positive and professional attitude; able to organize, maintain composure, and prioritize work under pressure.

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.

Strong teamwork skills essential.

Fluency in Arabic required; English is an asset.

Working Environment

The position will be based in Bekaa with daily travel to program locations. Security clearance will be obtained on a daily basis.
