Under the overall supervision of a (Senior) IT Officer, the IT Associate provides reliable and timely IT services on the application and infrastructure of UNHCR standard IT services in the Area of Responsibility (AoR). S/he normally receives technical guidance from a (Senior) IT Officer for the Telecom/IT infrastructure in the region in which the field or emergency operation exists. In offices where there is no IT Officer, direct supervision may be exercised by the (Snr) Admin Officer as applicable in the duty station.

Experience relevant to the function or particularly on HF/VHF radio or IT systems, PAMA satellite systems, PABX, Cisco routers and satellite modems.
Hands-on experience with wireless and VoIP systems, electricity, generators, lightning protection an asset. Previous experience in Emergencies is an advantage.

The ideal candidate will have relevant Information Technology experience within UNHCR. Strong knowledge and hands on experience with ICT systems and infrastructure, including PAMA satellite systems, PABX, CISCO routers, satellite modems, computer application packages, wireless and VoIP systems, as well as power systems such as electricity, and lightning protection, is highly desirable. The incumbent will support daily IT service delivery for the Country Office Malaysia. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate ICT asset and network user records, monitoring and maintaining LANs, network servers, printers, LAN points, hubs, and patch panels to prevent system faults, managing user access to the network, and performing minor hardware maintenance. The position also requires strong coordination skills to liaise effectively with local telecommunications service providers and vendors in Malaysia, as well as solid problem solving abilities to identify technical issues and recommend practical solutions to ensure continuity of ICT services.
The position requires fluency in English and Malay languages.
