Job Description

A Database Developer is a pivotal role within a cross-disciplined agile team. You will work alongside other engineers, architects, and product team members.

You will need a dedication to technical excellence in writing code, team collaboration, testing, and documentation. Good communication skills are essential, as well as a “can-do” attitude and willingness to work across various disciplines if required.

You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting our Visa Spend Clarity for Enterprise (VSCE) data delivery and billing systems while delivering to our platform modernization strategy.

As part of this role, you will

Be working with SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, PowerShell, GitHub

Participate in technical design in collaboration with other developers, architects, and product team members

Be performing root cause analysis and delivering solution outcomes

Provide operational support to other teams

Follow coding style standards and guidelines

Learn Visa Spend Clarity domain concepts

Develop and maintain technical documentation to support development, deployment and operations

Participate in knowledge sharing with other team members

Practice agile scrum methodology

Contribute to improving team agile processes

Participate in active learning with an open mind

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)

Solid experience with

Core SQL Server development skills especially with application databases (OLTP)
Solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL and stored procedure development, with a strong proficiency in coding of these
Handling performance and concurrency
Data ETL/ELT transformation with SSIS Data modelling and design experience

Experience required in

  • Scripting and automation (e.g. PowerShell)
  • Data governance Building and supporting CI/CD pipelines
  • Source control (e.g. Git, Subversion) and continuous integration (e.g. TeamCity)
  • Performance troubleshooting and resolution
  • Working in an agile team environment

Desired experience in

  • Building solutions leveraging Gen AI
  • Cloud technologies (AWS preferred) .NET development
  • Data warehousing Data Analysis / Data Science
  • Test automation
