The People Business Partner (PBP) for Mont-Joli plays a critical role in supporting the people strategy at the Quebec Region. This role provides expert guidance in Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR), and in the application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), with a strong focus on driving adherence to the Just Framework and Respect at Workplace Standard.

Working closely with the HR Manager – Americas and site leadership, the PBP will partner with leadership to build capability, conduct tailored training, and oversee key annual employee processes such as performance appraisals, engagement surveys, and psychosocial hazard studies.

Role Purpose & Contribution

The People Business Partner provides expert guidance to site leadership, ensuring technology and people solutions align with organizational goals. This role leads workplace investigations, ensures compliance, and promotes continuous improvement across the business in line with Bradken’s commitment to a respectful and inclusive workplace.

Key Responsibilities

HR Business Partnering Strategy

Partner with site and functional leaders to design, implement, and embed effective people initiatives and policies aligned with Bradken’s overall strategy.

Build leadership capability through targeted coaching, facilitation, and delivery of development programs to strengthen people management skills.

Lead and coordinate key employee lifecycle activities, including performance appraisals, engagement surveys, succession planning, and talent development.

Analyze workforce, engagement, and performance data to identify trends and provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance culture.

Employee & Industrial Relations

Provide expert guidance on the interpretation and application of Union (CBA)

Participate in agreement negotiations and manage workplace investigations in accordance with the Just Framework and Respect at Work Standard.

Advise and support leaders in the management of complex people matters, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

Collaborate with union representatives to build collaborative relationships and address employee concerns.

Work Planning & People Organisation

Establish regular routines with key People Leaders to monitor progress and share insights.

Champion Bradken’s Values and actively promote the BK Culture by fostering a respectful, inclusive, and high-performance workplace.

Support site-level change management initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of HR Systems.

Support recruitment for wages positions and advertise locally.

Key Technical Criteria

QualificationsTertiary Qualification in Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology, or a related field.

Bilingualism: Fluent in French and English is essential.

Proven experience in a People/HR Business Partner or senior HR role within Canada, ideally in the Mont-Joli/Quebec Region.

Demonstrated capability in complex Employee Relations (ER) case management and workplace investigations.

Experience in Enterprise Agreement (EA) negotiation and interpretation of modern awards/employment legislations.

Strong knowledge of Canadian workplace laws (Fair Work Act equivalent, WHS, antidiscrimination).

Practical experience in applying strategies for psychological safety at the workplace.

Skills & Capabilities

Data Driven Coaching: Skilled in using HR metrics to provide evidence-based coaching leaders.
