What You’ll Do

As a Sales Engineer at Black Duck, you will guide customers to success across three key areas

Technical Sales Partnership

• Build strong relationships with prospective customers by understanding their technical and business needs
• Deliver compelling product presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts
• Clearly articulate the value of Black Duck solutions in addressing security, quality, and compliance challenges

Technical Account Engagement

• Support customers throughout their journey, driving successful adoption and long-term satisfaction
• Partner with customers to plan and scale deployments across enterprise environments
• Ensure a seamless transition from evaluation to implementation

Thought Leadership

• Represent Black Duck at industry events, conferences, and seminars
• Engage with customers, prospects, and peers on the latest trends in application security
• Contribute to technical communities, forums, and customer knowledge-sharing initiatives

What You Bring

• Hands-on software development experience in one or more of the following:

C/C++, Java, C#, Objective-C

• Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or Perl
• Prior experience in customer-facing roles (e.g., Sales Engineer, Consultant, Technical Support, or similar)
• Strong understanding of SDLC, including Agile and CI/CD practices
• Familiarity with application security, software quality, and security tools

(Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CSSLP are a plus)

• A customer-first mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to travel within Japan for customer engagements, as needed
• Excellent communication skills with native-level Japanese and professional proficiency in English

Pay Range

¥8,000,000 — ¥16,000,000 JPY
