Position Summary

HackerOne is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the discovery, architecture, and development of high-performance, scalable data products and solutions. Joining our growing, distributed organization, you'll be instrumental in building the foundation that powers HackerOne's enterprise transformation from human-powered operations to data-driven, AI-powered, and human-led agentic operations.

Enterprise Data & AI Mission

Enterprise Data & AI provides the data and systems to enable our enterprise transformation from human-powered operations to data-driven, AI-powered, and human-led agentic operations. This data and systems infrastructure includes autonomous AI agents handling routine or repeatable work and centralized AI and data infrastructure for cross-org leverage.

What You Will Do

• Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of scalable, secure, and intelligent data products and solutions that support HackerOne’s transformation into an AI-first organization.
• Partner across business and engineering teams to identify high-leverage opportunities for automation, integration, and system modernization.
• Drive the architecture and execution of platform-level capabilities, leveraging AI and modern tooling to reduce manual effort, improve decision-making, and increase system resilience.
• Provide technical leadership to internal engineers and external development partners, ensuring design quality, operational excellence, and long-term maintainability.
• Shape and contribute to our incident and on-call response strategy, playbooks, and processes, focusing on building systems that fail gracefully and recover quickly.
• Act as a multiplier to mentor other engineers, advocate for technical excellence, and promote a culture of innovation, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
• Champion effective change management and enablement, ensuring systems are not only launched, but adopted, understood, and evolved.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 6+ years of experience in a Data, Engineering, Science, or similar role w/ proven track record of leading the design, development, and deployment of AI-first data products and solutions (preferably using Python).
• Extensive hands-on experience building and optimizing data pipelines, products, and solutions.
• Strong SQL for data manipulation and programming skills.
• Knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Extensive experience working with various data technologies and tools such as Airflow, Snowflake, Meltano, Fivetran, DBT, Looker, and AWS.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi
• Proven track record of successfully championing new initiatives focused on architectural enhancements.
• Proven track record of having substantial impact across the company, demonstrating your ability to drive positive change and achieve significant results.
• Passion for working backwards from the Customer and empathy for business stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, and can present data-driven narratives in verbal, presentation, and written formats.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven track record of driving innovation, adopting emerging technologies, and implementing industry best practices.
• Experience building and managing a cloud deployed data lake
• Experience working with Kubernetes.
• Experience working with Agile and iterative development processes.
• Understanding of network architecture.
