ROLE SUMMARY

Ontic is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) to lead the development of complex user interfaces and frontend systems that power our SaaS platform. This role is intended for experienced engineers who can independently drive features, own significant parts of the frontend architecture, and contribute to technical direction within their team.

You will work on designing scalable frontend solutions, improving system quality, and ensuring excellent user experience. Your focus will be on delivering robust systems, guiding best practices, and contributing to architectural decisions at the team level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Development & Implementation

• Lead development of complex frontend features using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS
• Translate ambiguous product requirements into scalable and maintainable solutions
• Own end-to-end delivery of features, from design to production rollout
• Drive improvements in existing UI architecture, performance, and user experience

Code Quality & Best Practices

• Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned with engineering standards
• Lead code reviews and ensure consistent application of best practices across the team
• Establish and promote standards for component design, state management, and frontend architecture
• Improve test coverage, performance, and accessibility across applications

Learning & Technical Growth

• Deepen expertise in frontend architecture, performance, and large-scale application design
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools where appropriate
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and technical discussions

Collaboration

• Work closely with product, design, and backend teams to define and deliver solutions
• Break down complex problems into manageable tasks and guide execution within the team
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support their growth
• Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks effectively

Production Awareness

• Lead debugging and resolution of complex issues in production environments
• Drive improvements in monitoring, logging, and performance tracking
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of frontend systems

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

• 5–7 years of software engineering experience with strong focus on frontend development
• Expert proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript in production environments
• Solid understanding of frontend architecture, state management, and component-driven development
• Experience designing and building scalable, performant web applications
• Strong understanding of browser internals, performance optimization, and rendering behavior
• Experience with testing strategies and frameworks (e.g., ViTest, Jest, React Testing Library)
• Proficiency with modern frontend tooling and build systems
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across environments
• Experience working with REST APIs and distributed systems
• Ability to work independently and drive initiatives to completion
• Effective communication and collaboration skills

Good to Have

• Experience with design systems or shared component libraries
• Exposure to frontend observability and performance monitoring tools
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based architectures
• Familiarity with accessibility standards and implementation
• Experience contributing to cross-team frontend standards or platform initiatives
