We are looking for a Construction Layout & Survey Specialist to support commercial and industrial steel construction projects throughout Virginia and Maryland. This position is primarily field-based and focuses on site measurements, layout verification, structural alignment, and installation support.

The ideal candidate has experience with construction surveying, structural steel projects, and operating surveying equipment in active jobsite environments.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform field surveys and collect accurate site measurements for construction and installation activities.

Establish layout points, control lines, column locations, and anchor bolt positioning.

Verify elevations, embeds, dimensions, and structural alignment throughout project execution.

Assist project teams with steel installation and layout accuracy.

Prepare and update as-built documentation based on field conditions.

Work closely with contractors and other trades to maintain proper positioning and alignment of structural components.

Support the installation of structural and miscellaneous steel elements, including stairs, shafts, and related assemblies.

Utilize industry software and technology including Trimble equipment, Bluebeam, CAD applications, and Microsoft Office products.

Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience in field surveying, construction layout, or structural steel erection.

Experience performing layout work involving grades, elevations, slopes, and structural steel components.

Proficiency using total stations or similar survey instruments.

Knowledge of structural alignment practices and industry standards.

Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout the region.

Comfortable working in construction environments, including elevated work areas and aerial lifts.

Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

Effective communication and teamwork skills.

This position is primarily based at project sites. Occasional visits to office or shop locations may be required for meetings, training, or project coordination.
